Surat al-Layl (The Night) - ٢٩ - سورة الليل

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ
By the night as it envelops;
শপথ রাত্রির, যখন সে আচ্ছন্ন করে,
وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ
By the day as it appears in brightness;
শপথ দিনের, যখন সে আলোকিত হয়
وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنْثَىٰ
By Him Who created male and female;
এবং তাঁর, যিনি নর ও নারী সৃষ্টি করেছেন,
إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ
Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes);
নিশ্চয় তোমাদের কর্ম প্রচেষ্টা বিভিন্ন ধরনের।
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَاتَّقَىٰ
As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allâh and fears Him,
অতএব, যে দান করে এবং খোদাভীরু হয়,
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ
We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness).
আমি তাকে সুখের বিষয়ের জন্যে সহজ পথ দান করব।
وَأَمَّا مَنْ بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَىٰ
But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient.
আর যে কৃপণতা করে ও বেপরওয়া হয়
وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ
And gives belies Al-Husna (See the footnote of the Verse No: 6);
এবং উত্তম বিষয়কে মিথ্যা মনে করে,
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ
We will make smooth for him the path for evil;
আমি তাকে কষ্টের বিষয়ের জন্যে সহজ পথ দান করব।
وَمَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ مَالُهُ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰ
And what will his wealth avail him when he goes down (in destruction).
যখন সে অধঃপতিত হবে, তখন তার সম্পদ তার কোনই কাজে আসবে না।
إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ
Truly! on Us is (to give) guidance,
আমার দায়িত্ব পথ প্রদর্শন করা।
وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْآخِرَةَ وَالْأُولَىٰ
And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world).
আর আমি মালিক ইহকালের ও পরকালের।
فَأَنْذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّىٰ
Therefore I have warned you of a blazing (Hell);
অতএব, আমি তোমাদেরকে প্রজ্বলিত অগ্নি সম্পর্কে সতর্ক করে দিয়েছি।
لَا يَصْلَاهَا إِلَّا الْأَشْقَى
None shall enter it save the most wretched,
এতে নিতান্ত হতভাগ্য ব্যক্তিই প্রবেশ করবে,
الَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ
Who denies and turns away.
যে মিথ্যারোপ করে ও মুখ ফিরিয়ে নেয়।
وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الْأَتْقَى
And Al-Muttaqûn (the pious and righteous - see V.2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell).
এ থেকে দূরে রাখা হবে খোদাভীরু ব্যক্তিকে,
الَّذِي يُؤْتِي مَالَهُ يَتَزَكَّىٰ
He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification,
যে আত্নশুদ্ধির জন্যে তার ধন-সম্পদ দান করে।
وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِنْدَهُ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ تُجْزَىٰ
And who has (in mind) no favour from anyone,
এবং তার উপর কারও কোন প্রতিদানযোগ্য অনুগ্রহ থাকে না।
إِلَّا ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْأَعْلَىٰ
Except to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High;
তার মহান পালনকর্তার সন্তুষ্টি অন্বেষণ ব্যতীত।
