Surat al-Balad (The Land) - ٠٩ - سورة البلد

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ لَا أُقْسِمُ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ
I swear by this city (Makkah);
আমি এই নগরীর শপথ করি
وَأَنْتَ حِلٌّ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ
And you are free (from sin and to punish the enemies of Islâm on the Day of the conquest) in this city (Makkah) ,
এবং এই নগরীতে আপনার উপর কোন প্রতিবন্ধকতা নেই।
وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ
And by the begetter (i.e. Adam A.S.) and that which he begot (i.e. his progeny);
শপথ জনকের ও যা জন্ম দেয়।
لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ فِي كَبَدٍ
Verily, We have created man in toil.
নিশ্চয় আমি মানুষকে শ্রমনির্ভররূপে সৃষ্টি করেছি।
أَيَحْسَبُ أَنْ لَنْ يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ
Does he think that none can overcome him?
সে কি মনে করে যে, তার উপর কেউ ক্ষমতাবান হবে না ?
يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُبَدًا
He says (boastfully): "I have wasted wealth in abundance!"
সে বলেঃ আমি প্রচুর ধন-সম্পদ ব্যয় করেছি।
أَيَحْسَبُ أَنْ لَمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ
Does he think that none sees him?
সে কি মনে করে যে, তাকে কেউ দেখেনি?
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَهُ عَيْنَيْنِ
Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?
আমি কি তাকে দেইনি চক্ষুদ্বয়,
وَهَدَيْنَاهُ النَّجْدَيْنِ
And shown him the two ways (good and evil)?
বস্তুতঃ আমি তাকে দু'টি পথ প্রদর্শন করেছি।
فَلَا اقْتَحَمَ الْعَقَبَةَ
But he has not attempted to pass on the path that is steep (i.e. the path which will lead to goodness and success).
অতঃপর সে ধর্মের ঘাঁটিতে প্রবেশ করেনি।
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْعَقَبَةُ
And what will make you know the path that is steep?
আপনি জানেন, সে ঘাঁটি কি?
أَوْ إِطْعَامٌ فِي يَوْمٍ ذِي مَسْغَبَةٍ
Or giving food in a day of hunger (famine),
অথবা দুর্ভিক্ষের দিনে অন্নদান।
أَوْ مِسْكِينًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ
Or to a Miskîn (poor) cleaving to dust (out of misery).
অথবা ধুলি-ধুসরিত মিসকীনকে
ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْمَرْحَمَةِ
Then he became one of those who believed, (in the Islamic Monothsim) and recommended one another to perseverance and patience, and (also) recommended one another to pity and compassion.
অতঃপর তাদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হওয়া, যারা ঈমান আনে এবং পরস্পরকে উপদেশ দেয় সবরের ও উপদেশ দেয় দয়ার।
أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ
They are those on the Right Hand (i.e. the dwellers of Paradise),
তারাই সৌভাগ্যশালী।
وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ
But those who disbelieved in Our Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), they are those on the Left Hand (the dwellers of Hell)
আর যারা আমার আয়াতসমূহ অস্বীকার করে তারাই হতভাগা।
