وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ
By the ten nights (i.e. the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hîjjah) ,
শপথ দশ রাত্রির, শপথ তার,
وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ
And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allâh)
যা জোড় ও যা বিজোড়
وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ
And by the night when it departs
এবং শপথ রাত্রির যখন তা গত হতে থাকে
هَلْ فِي ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِذِي حِجْرٍ
There is indeed in them (the above oaths) sufficient proofs for men of understanding (and that, they should avoid all kinds of sins and disbeliefs)!
এর মধ্যে আছে শপথ জ্ঞানী ব্যক্তির জন্যে।
أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ
Saw you (O Muhammad (SAW)) not how your Lord dealt with 'Ad (people)
আপনি কি লক্ষ্য করেননি, আপনার পালনকর্তা আদ বংশের ইরাম গোত্রের সাথে কি আচরণ করেছিলেন,
إِرَمَ ذَاتِ الْعِمَادِ
Of Iram (Who were very tall) like (lofty) pillars,
যাদের দৈহিক গঠন স্তম্ভ ও খুঁটির ন্যায় দীর্ঘ ছিল এবং
الَّتِي لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِي الْبِلَادِ
The like of which were not created in the land?
যাদের সমান শক্তি ও বলবীর্যে সারা বিশ্বের শহরসমূহে কোন লোক সৃজিত হয়নি
وَثَمُودَ الَّذِينَ جَابُوا الصَّخْرَ بِالْوَادِ
And (with) Thamûd (people), who hewed out rocks in the valley (to make dwellings)?
এবং সামুদ গোত্রের সাথে, যারা উপত্যকায় পাথর কেটে গৃহ নির্মাণ করেছিল।
وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِي الْأَوْتَادِ
And (with) Fir'aun (Pharaoh), who had the stakes (to torture men by binding them to stakes)?
এবং বহু কীলকের অধিপতি ফেরাউনের সাথে
الَّذِينَ طَغَوْا فِي الْبِلَادِ
Who did transgress beyond bounds in the lands (in the disobedience of Allâh).
যারা দেশে সীমালঙ্ঘন করেছিল।
فَأَكْثَرُوا فِيهَا الْفَسَادَ
And made therein much mischief.
অতঃপর সেখানে বিস্তর অশান্তি সৃষ্টি করেছিল।
فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ
So your Lord poured on them different kinds of severe torment.
অতঃপর আপনার পালনকর্তা তাদেরকে শাস্তির কশাঘাত করলেন।
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِالْمِرْصَادِ
Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful (over them).
নিশ্চয় আপনার পালকর্তা সতর্ক দৃষ্টি রাখেন।
فَأَمَّا الْإِنْسَانُ إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَأَكْرَمَهُ وَنَعَّمَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَكْرَمَنِ
As for man, when his Lord tries him by giving him honour and bounties, then he says (in): "My Lord has honoured me."
মানুষ এরূপ যে, যখন তার পালনকর্তা তাকে পরীক্ষা করেন, অতঃপর সম্মান ও অনুগ্রহ দান করেন, তখন বলে, আমার পালনকর্তা আমাকে সম্মান দান করেছেন।
وَأَمَّا إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَهَانَنِ
But when He tries him, by straitening his means of life, he says: "My Lord has humiliated me!"
এবং যখন তাকে পরীক্ষা করেন, অতঃপর রিযিক সংকুচিত করে দেন, তখন বলেঃ আমার পালনকর্তা আমাকে হেয় করেছেন।
كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ لَا تُكْرِمُونَ الْيَتِيمَ
Nay! But you treat not the orphans with kindness and generosity (i.e. you neither treat them well, nor give them their exact right of inheritance)!
এটা অমূলক, বরং তোমরা এতীমকে সম্মান কর না।
وَلَا تَحَاضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ
And urge not one another on the feeding of AlMiskîn (the poor)!
এবং মিসকীনকে অন্নদানে পরস্পরকে উৎসাহিত কর না।
وَتَأْكُلُونَ التُّرَاثَ أَكْلًا لَمًّا
And you devour inheritance all with greed,
এবং তোমরা মৃতের ত্যাজ্য সম্পত্তি সম্পূর্ণরূপে কুক্ষিগত করে ফেল
وَتُحِبُّونَ الْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا
And you love wealth with much love!
এবং তোমরা ধন-সম্পদকে প্রাণভরে ভালবাস।
كَلَّا إِذَا دُكَّتِ الْأَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا
Nay! When the earth is ground to powder,
এটা অনুচিত। যখন পৃথিবী চুর্ণ-বিচুর্ণ হবে
وَجَاءَ رَبُّكَ وَالْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا
And your Lord comes with the angels in rows,
এবং আপনার পালনকর্তা ও ফেরেশতাগণ সারিবদ্ধভাবে উপস্থিত হবেন,
وَجِيءَ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ الْإِنْسَانُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ الذِّكْرَىٰ
And Hell will be brought near that Day. On that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance (then) avail him?
এবং সেদিন জাহান্নামকে আনা হবে, সেদিন মানুষ স্মরণ করবে, কিন্তু এই স্মরণ তার কি কাজে আসবে?
يَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِي
He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my life!"
সে বলবেঃ হায়, এ জীবনের জন্যে আমি যদি কিছু অগ্রে প্রেরণ করতাম!
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُ أَحَدٌ
So on that Day, none will punish as He will punish
সেদিন তার শাস্তির মত শাস্তি কেউ দিবে না।
وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ أَحَدٌ
And none will bind (the wicked, disbelivers and polytheists) as He will bind.
এবং তার বন্ধনের মত বন্ধন কেউ দিবে না।
يَا أَيَّتُهَا النَّفْسُ الْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ
(It will be said to the pious — believers of Islamic Monothesim): "O (you) the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction!
হে প্রশান্ত মন,
ارْجِعِي إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَرْضِيَّةً
"Come back to your Lord, Well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing (unto Him)!
তুমি তোমার পালনকর্তার নিকট ফিরে যাও সন্তুষ্ট ও সন্তোষভাজন হয়ে।
فَادْخُلِي فِي عِبَادِي
"Enter you, then, among My (honoured) slaves,
অতঃপর আমার বান্দাদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হয়ে যাও।
