بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ لَا أُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ
I swear by the Day of Resurrection;
আমি শপথ করি কেয়ামত দিবসের,
وَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالنَّفْسِ اللَّوَّامَةِ
And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer).
আরও শপথ করি সেই মনের, যে নিজেকে ধিক্কার দেয়-
أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنْسَانُ أَلَّنْ نَجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُ
Does man (a disbeliever) think that We shall not assemble his bones?
মানুষ কি মনে করে যে আমি তার অস্থিসমূহ একত্রিত করব না?
بَلَىٰ قَادِرِينَ عَلَىٰ أَنْ نُسَوِّيَ بَنَانَهُ
Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers.
পরন্ত আমি তার অংগুলিগুলো পর্যন্ত সঠিকভাবে সন্নিবেশিত করতে সক্ষম।
بَلْ يُرِيدُ الْإِنْسَانُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُ
Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So he) desires to continue committing sins.
বরং মানুষ তার ভবিষ্যত জীবনেও ধৃষ্টতা করতে চায়
يَسْأَلُ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ
He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?"
সে প্রশ্ন করে-কেয়ামত দিবস কবে?
وَجُمِعَ الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ
And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light).
এবং সূর্য ও চন্দ্রকে একত্রিত করা হবে-
يَقُولُ الْإِنْسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ الْمَفَرُّ
On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?"
সে দিন মানুষ বলবেঃ পলায়নের জায়গা কোথায় ?
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْمُسْتَقَرُّ
Unto your Lord (Alone) will be the place of rest that Day.
আপনার পালনকর্তার কাছেই সেদিন ঠাঁই হবে।
يُنَبَّأُ الْإِنْسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ
On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions).
সেদিন মানুষকে অবহিত করা হবে সে যা সামনে প্রেরণ করেছে ও পশ্চাতে ছেড়ে দিয়েছে।
بَلِ الْإِنْسَانُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ بَصِيرَةٌ
Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds].
বরং মানুষ নিজেই তার নিজের সম্পর্কে চক্ষুমান।
وَلَوْ أَلْقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُ
Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds).
যদিও সে তার অজুহাত পেশ করতে চাইবে।
لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِ
Move not your tongue concerning (the Qur'ân, O Muhammad SAW) to make haste therewith.
তাড়াতাড়ি শিখে নেয়ার জন্যে আপনি দ্রুত ওহী আবৃত্তি করবেন না।
إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُ وَقُرْآنَهُ
It is for Us to collect it and to give you (O Muhammad SAW) the ability to recite it (the Qur'ân),
এর সংরক্ষণ ও পাঠ আমারই দায়িত্ব।
فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَاهُ فَاتَّبِعْ قُرْآنَهُ
And when We have recited it to you [O Muhammad SAW through Jibril (Gabriel)], then follow you its (the Qur'ân's) recital.
অতঃপর আমি যখন তা পাঠ করি, তখন আপনি সেই পাঠের অনুসরণ করুন।
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُ
Then it is for Us (Allâh) to make it clear (to you).
এরপর বিশদ বর্ণনা আমারই দায়িত্ব।
كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ الْعَاجِلَةَ
Not [as you think, that you (mankind) will not be resurrected and recompensed for your deeds], but you (men) love the present life of this world,
কখনও না, বরং তোমরা পার্থিব জীবনকে ভালবাস
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاضِرَةٌ
Some faces that Day shall be Nâdirah (shining and radiant).
সেদিন অনেক মুখমন্ডল উজ্জ্বল হবে।
إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ
Looking at their Lord (Allâh);
তারা তার পালনকর্তার দিকে তাকিয়ে থাকবে।
وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ بَاسِرَةٌ
And some faces, that Day, will be Bâsirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad),
আর অনেক মুখমন্ডল সেদিন উদাস হয়ে পড়বে।
تَظُنُّ أَنْ يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ
Thinking that some calamity is about to fall on them;
তারা ধারণা করবে যে, তাদের সাথে কোমর-ভাঙ্গা আচরণ করা হবে।
كَلَّا إِذَا بَلَغَتِ التَّرَاقِيَ
Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit),
কখনও না, যখন প্রাণ কন্ঠাগত হবে।
وَقِيلَ مَنْ ۜ رَاقٍ
And it will be said: "Who can cure him (and save him from death)?"
এবং বলা হবে, কে ঝাড়বে
وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ الْفِرَاقُ
And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of parting (death);
এবং সে মনে করবে যে, বিদায়ের ক্ষণ এসে গেছে।
وَالْتَفَّتِ السَّاقُ بِالسَّاقِ
And one leg will be joined with another leg (shrouded)
এবং গোছা গোছার সাথে জড়িত হয়ে যাবে।
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْمَسَاقُ
The drive will be, on that Day, to your Lord (Allâh)!
সেদিন, আপনার পালনকর্তার নিকট সবকিছু নীত হবে।
فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ
So he (the disbeliever) neither believed (in this Qur'ân, and in the Message of Muhammad SAW) nor prayed!
সে বিশ্বাস করেনি এবং নামায পড়েনি;
وَلَٰكِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ
But on the contrary, he belied (this Qur'ân and the Message of Muhammad SAW) and turned away!
পরন্ত মিথ্যারোপ করেছে ও পৃষ্ঠ প্রদর্শন করেছে।
ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ يَتَمَطَّىٰ
Then he walked in conceit (full pride) to his family admiring himself!
অতঃপর সে দম্ভভরে পরিবার-পরিজনের নিকট ফিরে গিয়েছে।
أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ
Woe to you [O man (disbeliever)]! And then (again) woe to you!
তোমার দুর্ভোগের উপর দুর্ভোগ।
ثُمَّ أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ
Again, woe to you [O man (disbeliever)]! And then (again) woe to you!
অতঃপর, তোমার দুর্ভোগের উপর দূর্ভোগ।
أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنْسَانُ أَنْ يُتْرَكَ سُدًى
Does man think that he will be left neglected [without being punished or rewarded for the obligatory duties enjoined by his Lord (Allâh) on him]?
মানুষ কি মনে করে যে, তাকে এমনি ছেড়ে দেয়া হবে?
أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِنْ مَنِيٍّ يُمْنَىٰ
Was he not a Nutfah (mixed male and female sexual discharge) of semen emitted (poured forth)?
সে কি স্খলিত বীর্য ছিল না?
ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ
Then he became an 'Alaqa (a clot); then (Allâh) shaped and fashioned (him) in due proportion.
অতঃপর সে ছিল রক্তপিন্ড, অতঃপর আল্লাহ তাকে সৃষ্টি করেছেন এবং সুবিন্যস্ত করেছেন।
فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ الزَّوْجَيْنِ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنْثَىٰ
And made him in two sexes, male and female.
অতঃপর তা থেকে সৃষ্টি করেছেন যুগল নর ও নারী।
