بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ن ۚ وَالْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ
Nûn [These letters (Nûn, etc.) are one of the miracles of the Qur'ân, and none but Allâh (Alone) knows their meanings]. By the pen and by what the (the angels) write (in the Records of men).
নূন। শপথ কলমের এবং সেই বিষয়ের যা তারা লিপিবদ্ধ করে,
مَا أَنْتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُونٍ
You (O Muhammad SAW) are not, by the Grace of your Lord, a madman.
আপনার পালনকর্তার অনুগ্রহে আপনি উম্মাদ নন।
وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْرًا غَيْرَ مَمْنُونٍ
And verily, for you (O Muhammad SAW) will be an endless reward.
আপনার জন্যে অবশ্যই রয়েছে অশেষ পুরস্কার।
وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ
And verily, you (O Muhammad SAW) are on an exalted (standard of) character.
আপনি অবশ্যই মহান চরিত্রের অধিকারী।
فَسَتُبْصِرُ وَيُبْصِرُونَ
You will see, and they will see,
সত্ত্বরই আপনি দেখে নিবেন এবং তারাও দেখে নিবে।
بِأَيْيِكُمُ الْمَفْتُونُ
Which of you is afflicted with madness.
কে তোমাদের মধ্যে বিকারগ্রস্ত।
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ ضَلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ
Verily, your Lord is Best Knower of him who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Knower of those who are guided.
আপনার পালনকর্তা সম্যক জানেন কে তাঁর পথ থেকে বিচ্যুত হয়েছে এবং তিনি জানেন যারা সৎপথ প্রাপ্ত।
فَلَا تُطِعِ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ
So (O Muhammad SAW) obey you not the deniers [(of Islâmic Monotheism those who belie the Verses of Allâh), the Oneness of Allâh, and the Messengership of Muhammad SAW].
অতএব, আপনি মিথ্যারোপকারীদের আনুগত্য করবেন না।
وَدُّوا لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ
They wish that you should compromise (in religion out of courtesy) with them, so they (too) would compromise with you.
তারা চায় যদি আপনি নমনীয় হন, তবে তারাও নমনীয় হবে।
وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ مَهِينٍ
And (O Muhammad SAW) obey you not everyone Hallaf Mahin (the one who swears much, and is a liar or is worthless). (Tafsir At-Tabari)
যে অধিক শপথ করে, যে লাঞ্ছিত, আপনি তার আনুগত্য করবেন না।
هَمَّازٍ مَشَّاءٍ بِنَمِيمٍ
A slanderer, going about with calumnies,
যে পশ্চাতে নিন্দা করে একের কথা অপরের নিকট লাগিয়ে ফিরে।
مَنَّاعٍ لِلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
Hinderer of the good, transgressor, sinful,
যে ভাল কাজে বাধা দেয়, সে সীমালংঘন করে, সে পাপিষ্ঠ,
عُتُلٍّ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ زَنِيمٍ
Cruel, and moreover baseborn (of illegitimate birth).
কঠোর স্বভাব, তদুপরি কুখ্যাত;
أَنْ كَانَ ذَا مَالٍ وَبَنِينَ
(He was so) because he had wealth and children.
এ কারণে যে, সে ধন-সম্পদ ও সন্তান সন্ততির অধিকারী।
إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
When Our Verses (of the Qur'ân) are recited to him, he says: "Tales of the men of old!"
তার কাছে আমার আয়াত পাঠ করা হলে সে বলে; সেকালের উপকথা।
سَنَسِمُهُ عَلَى الْخُرْطُومِ
We shall brand him on the snout (nose)!
আমি তার নাসিকা দাগিয়ে দিব।
إِنَّا بَلَوْنَاهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَا أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ
Verily, We have tried them as We tried the people of the garden, when they swore to pluck the fruits of the (garden) in the morning.
আমি তাদেরকে পরীক্ষা করেছি, যেমন পরীক্ষা করেছি উদ্যানওয়ালাদের, যখন তারা শপথ করেছিল যে, সকালে বাগানের ফল আহরণ করবে,
فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَائِفٌ مِنْ رَبِّكَ وَهُمْ نَائِمُونَ
Then there passed by on the (garden) visitation (fire) from your Lord at night and burnt it while they were asleep.
অতঃপর আপনার পালনকর্তার পক্ষ থেকে বাগানে এক বিপদ এসে পতিত হলো। যখন তারা নিদ্রিত ছিল।
فَأَصْبَحَتْ كَالصَّرِيمِ
So the (garden) became black by the morning, like a pitch dark night (in complete ruins).
ফলে সকাল পর্যন্ত হয়ে গেল ছিন্নবিচ্ছিন্ন তৃণসম।
فَتَنَادَوْا مُصْبِحِينَ
Then they called out one to another as soon as the morning broke,
সকালে তারা একে অপরকে ডেকে বলল,
أَنِ اغْدُوا عَلَىٰ حَرْثِكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَارِمِينَ
Saying: "Go to your tilth in the morning, if you would pluck the fruits."
তোমরা যদি ফল আহরণ করতে চাও, তবে সকাল সকাল ক্ষেতে চল।
فَانْطَلَقُوا وَهُمْ يَتَخَافَتُونَ
So they departed, conversing in secret low tones (saying),
অতঃপর তারা চলল ফিসফিস করে কথা বলতে বলতে,
أَنْ لَا يَدْخُلَنَّهَا الْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِسْكِينٌ
No Miskîn (poor man) shall enter upon you into it today.
অদ্য যেন কোন মিসকীন ব্যক্তি তোমাদের কাছে বাগানে প্রবেশ করতে না পারে।
وَغَدَوْا عَلَىٰ حَرْدٍ قَادِرِينَ
And they went in the morning with strong intention, thinking that they have power (to prevent the poor taking anything of the fruits therefrom).
তারা সকালে লাফিয়ে লাফিয়ে সজোরে রওয়ানা হল।
فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوا إِنَّا لَضَالُّونَ
But when they saw the (garden), they said: "Verily, we have gone astray,"
অতঃপর যখন তারা বাগান দেখল, তখন বললঃ আমরা তো পথ ভূলে গেছি।
بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ
(Then they said): "Nay! Indeed we are deprived of (the fruits)!"
বরং আমরা তো কপালপোড়া,
قَالَ أَوْسَطُهُمْ أَلَمْ أَقُلْ لَكُمْ لَوْلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ
The best among them said: "Did I not tell you: why say you not: Inshâ' Allâh (If Allâh wills)."
তাদের উত্তম ব্যক্তি বললঃ আমি কি তোমাদেরকে বলিনি? এখনও তোমরা আল্লাহ তা'আলার পবিত্রতা বর্ণনা করছো না কেন?
قَالُوا سُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ
They said: "Glory to Our Lord! Verily, we have been Zâlimûn (wrong-doers)."
তারা বললঃ আমরা আমাদের পালনকর্তার পবিত্রতা ঘোষণা করছি, নিশ্চিতই আমরা সীমালংঘনকারী ছিলাম।
فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَلَاوَمُونَ
Then they turned, one against another, blaming.
অতঃপর তারা একে অপরকে ভৎর্সনা করতে লাগল।
قَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا طَاغِينَ
They said: "Woe to us! Verily, we were Tâghûn (transgressors and disobedient).
তারা বললঃ হায়! দুর্ভোগ আমাদের আমরা ছিলাম সীমাতিক্রমকারী।
عَسَىٰ رَبُّنَا أَنْ يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًا مِنْهَا إِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا رَاغِبُونَ
We hope that our Lord will give us in exchange a better (garden) than this. Truly, we turn to our Lord (wishing for good that He may forgive our sins, and reward us in the Hereafter)."
সম্ভবতঃ আমাদের পালনকর্তা পরিবর্তে এর চাইতে উত্তম বাগান আমাদেরকে দিবেন। আমরা আমাদের পালনকর্তার কাছে আশাবাদী।
كَذَٰلِكَ الْعَذَابُ ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ الْآخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ
Such is the punishment (in this life), but truly, the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they but knew.
শাস্তি এভাবেই আসে এবং পরকালের শাস্তি আরও গুরুতর; যদি তারা জানত!
إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ
Verily, for the Muttaqûn (pious and righteous persons - see V.2:2) are Gardens of delight (Paradise) with their Lord.
মোত্তাকীদের জন্যে তাদের পালনকর্তার কাছে রয়েছে নেয়ামতের জান্নাত।
أَفَنَجْعَلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ كَالْمُجْرِمِينَ
Shall We then treat the Muslims (believers of Islamic Monotheism, doers of righteous deeds) like the Mujrimûn (criminals, polytheists and disbelievers)?
আমি কি আজ্ঞাবহদেরকে অপরাধীদের ন্যায় গণ্য করব?
مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ
What is the matter with you? How judge you?
তোমাদের কি হল ? তোমরা কেমন সিদ্ধান্ত দিচ্ছ?
أَمْ لَكُمْ كِتَابٌ فِيهِ تَدْرُسُونَ
Or have you a Book where in you learn,
তোমাদের কি কোন কিতাব আছে, যা তোমরা পাঠ কর।
إِنَّ لَكُمْ فِيهِ لَمَا تَخَيَّرُونَ
That you shall therein have all that you choose?
তাতে তোমরা যা পছন্দ কর, তাই পাও?
أَمْ لَكُمْ أَيْمَانٌ عَلَيْنَا بَالِغَةٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ۙ إِنَّ لَكُمْ لَمَا تَحْكُمُونَ
Or have you oaths from Us, reaching to the Day of Resurrection that yours will be what you judge?
না তোমরা আমার কাছ থেকেকেয়ামত পর্যন্ত বলবৎ কোন শপথ নিয়েছ যে, তোমরা তাই পাবে যা তোমরা সিদ্ধান্ত করবে?
سَلْهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ بِذَٰلِكَ زَعِيمٌ
Ask them, which of them will stand surety for that!
আপনি তাদেরকে জিজ্ঞাসা করুন তাদের কে এ বিষয়ে দায়িত্বশীল?
أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَاءُ فَلْيَأْتُوا بِشُرَكَائِهِمْ إِنْ كَانُوا صَادِقِينَ
Or have they "partners"? Then let them bring their "partners" if they are truthful!
না তাদের কোন শরীক উপাস্য আছে? থাকলে তাদের শরীক উপাস্যদেরকে উপস্থিত করুক যদি তারা সত্যবাদী হয়।
يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَنْ سَاقٍ وَيُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ
(Remember) the Day when the Shin shall be laid bare (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) and they shall be called to prostrate themselves (to Allâh), but they (hypocrites) shall not be able to do so.
গোছা পর্যন্ত পা খোলার দিনের কথা স্মরণ কর, সেদিন তাদেরকে সেজদা করতে আহবান জানানো হবে, অতঃপর তারা সক্ষম হবে না।
خَاشِعَةً أَبْصَارُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۖ وَقَدْ كَانُوا يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ وَهُمْ سَالِمُونَ
Their eyes will be cast down and ignominy will cover them; they used to be called to prostrate themselves (offer prayers), while they were healthy and good (in the life of the world, but they did not).
তাদের দৃষ্টি অবনত থাকবে; তারা লাঞ্ছনাগ্রস্ত হবে, অথচ যখন তারা সুস্থ ও স্বাভাবিক অবস্থায় ছিল, তখন তাদেরকে সেজদা করতে আহবান জানানো হত।
فَذَرْنِي وَمَنْ يُكَذِّبُ بِهَٰذَا الْحَدِيثِ ۖ سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُمْ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
Then leave Me Alone with such as belie this Qur'ân. We shall punish them gradually from directions they perceive not.
অতএব, যারা এই কালামকে মিথ্যা বলে, তাদেরকে আমার হাতে ছেড়ে দিন, আমি এমন ধীরে ধীরে তাদেরকে জাহান্নামের দিকে নিয়ে যাব যে, তারা জানতে পারবে না।
وَأُمْلِي لَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ كَيْدِي مَتِينٌ
And I will grant them a respite. Verily, My Plan is strong.
আমি তাদেরকে সময় দেই। নিশ্চয় আমার কৌশল মজবুত।
أَمْ تَسْأَلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُمْ مِنْ مَغْرَمٍ مُثْقَلُونَ
Or is it that you (O Muhammad SAW) ask them a wage, so that they are heavily burdened with debt?
আপনি কি তাদের কাছে পারিশ্রমিক চান? ফলে তাদের উপর জরিমানার বোঝা পড়ছে?
أَمْ عِنْدَهُمُ الْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ
Or that the Ghaib (unseen — here in this Verse it means Al-Lauh Al-Mahfûz) is in their hands, so that they can write it down?
না তাদের কাছে গায়বের খবর আছে? অতঃপর তারা তা লিপিবদ্ধ করে।
فَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُنْ كَصَاحِبِ الْحُوتِ إِذْ نَادَىٰ وَهُوَ مَكْظُومٌ
So wait with patience for the Decision of your Lord, and be not like the Companion of the Fish — when he cried out (to Us) while he was in deep sorrow. (See the Qur'ân, Verse 21:87).
আপনি আপনার পালনকর্তার আদেশের অপেক্ষায় সবর করুন এবং মাছওয়ালা ইউনুসের মত হবেন না, যখন সে দুঃখাকুল মনে প্রার্থনা করেছিল।
لَوْلَا أَنْ تَدَارَكَهُ نِعْمَةٌ مِنْ رَبِّهِ لَنُبِذَ بِالْعَرَاءِ وَهُوَ مَذْمُومٌ
Had not a Grace from his Lord reached him, he would indeed have been (left in the stomach of the fish, but We forgave him), so he was cast off on the naked shore, while he was to be blamed.
যদি তার পালনকর্তার অনুগ্রহ তাকে সামাল না দিত, তবে সে নিন্দিত অবস্থায় জনশুন্য প্রান্তরে নিক্ষিপ্ত হত।
فَاجْتَبَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَجَعَلَهُ مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ
Then his Lord chose him and made him of the righteous.
অতঃপর তার পালনকর্তা তাকে মনোনীত করলেন এবং তাকে সৎকর্মীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত করে নিলেন।
وَإِنْ يَكَادُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَارِهِمْ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا الذِّكْرَ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُ لَمَجْنُونٌ
And verily, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes (through hatred) when they hear the Reminder (the Qur'ân), and they say: "Verily, he (Muhammad SAW) is a madman!"
কাফেররা যখন কোরআন শুনে, তখন তারা তাদের দৃষ্টি দ্বারা যেন আপনাকে আছাড় দিয়ে ফেলে দিবে এবং তারা বলেঃ সে তো একজন পাগল।
